abbott on climate change

Although I don’t agree that the development of an Emissions Trading Scheme is the required climate change response, I was relieved when both major parties announced that they actually did have a policy on global warming. To be honest I was a little surprised that the Libs had come around, that was until…

“I have pointed out in the past that there was that high year a few years ago, and … if you believe the various measuring organisations, [the temperature] hasn’t increased, but again the point is not the science, the point is how should government respond and we have a credible response that will achieve a 5 per cent reduction by 2020 and the government doesn’t.”

Once again Abbott has restated his skeptical views on climate change, and suggested the world may even be getting cooler, yet this time we see the implementation of a carbon trading scheme with a goal to cut national emissions by 5%.

I’m perplexed… but at least we have action.
